WebNov 15, 2024 · Thanks for that. I’m leaning toward the burlier Burris with the simpler reticle, but am tempted by the higher mag range and mostly the current price tag on the Athlon. I assume glass wise they’re similar and that the Burris could not be considered as twice as good. ($800 vs $400). General purpose optic for a 6.5 Grendel with an 18” barrel.

WebJun 20, 2003 · Steve, Burris does make a 4-12 compact with target knobs, but that model doesn't have the Bal. plex, I've got the model with the Bal. plex and love it, it's got 3.5-5" of eye relief no matter what power it's on, so it's clear through the whole range of eye relief, so it's got alot of latitude as far as mounting goes. Burris Optics also makes excellent rifle scopes owing to the fact that its owner was a former scope designer for Redfield. It is made in China as opposed to the Philippines, which is another major strike against it in my book. There is also the new Heras line but most of these are SFP and oriented more for hunting. Interesting are the .2 mil reticles in a SFP scope.
